Our Story

Abbotsford Prep School, based in Urmston, South West Manchester, is a couple of miles from the Trafford Centre and four miles from Manchester United’s ground. The school is over 100 years old and was originally called Caius House, situated in a large Victorian house.

When the number of pupils increased, the school outgrew its premises and relocated to the current premises, which was formally an army barracks. Abbotsford Prep School opened a nursery in a building attached to the school, and we are now pleased to cater for children starting from four months to 11 years. The Little Gems Nursery is open 50 weeks of the year, and we currently have just over 200 children, with no more than 20 in a class.

Abbotsford is happy to welcome back past pupils, of which we have many still involved in the school. We are proud of our incredibly rich history, with many of our present parents having attended the school as children themselves!
