Wednesday was ‘Pi Day’ and Year 4 had their first taste of the mathematical constant. Using a piece of string they measured the radius, diameter and circumference of several circles to investigate any patterns. They found out that the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter was the same for all circles – approximately 3, or more accurately:
